During the CD PROJEKT Group FY 2024 earnings conference call released yesterday, CD PROJEKT RED confirmed that The Witcher 4 is still far off from release.

The Witcher 4 was revealed at The Game Awards 2024, leaving fans eager for the continuation of the mainline story following the events of The Witcher 3. However, during the FY 2025 earnings conference call yesterday, the developers at CD PROJEKT RED made it clear that the latest monster-hunting title will not launch before 2027. Although some fans were hoping for a release in 2026, executives stated that is no longer a possibility.

CD PROJEKT Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz said, “We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet.” He continued, “All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026.” While this statement does not confirm a 2027 release, it does rule out a 2026 launch. There is still a possibility that The Witcher 4 could release even later, as games have faced significant delays in the past—Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones, for example, took almost a decade to release.

In addition to the news about The Witcher 4, CD PROJEKT RED announced that they have expanded their studios, particularly for the next Cyberpunk project, codenamed Orion, which gained 20 more employees over the past four months. The Witcher 4’s development team was also bolstered by 11 new members. In total, CD PROJEKT RED has increased its developer count by 57 people since October 2024.

Although The Witcher 4 is still years away, CD PROJEKT RED appears to be fully committed to its ongoing projects, with an expanded workforce supporting both The Witcher 4 and Orion.
