Bethesda’s Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, the controversial Nazi-killing game, is coming to the Switch, and Panic Button will be handling the port.
Panic Button is the company that worked on the ports of major games such as Doom and Rocket League.
For those who don’t know, Wolfenstein II, one of 2017’s biggest hits, takes place in an alternate timeline where the Nazi’s won World War II. They managed to invade the United States after nuking several major cities around the world. The game itself follows William “B.J.” Blazkowicz and a ragtag group of rebels as they fight back against the Nazi regime.
Speaking at the Fun & Serious Game Festival in Bilbao about Panic Button, Senior Game Designer, Andreas Öjerfors said, “They’re experts at the Switch and now they’re experts with the [id Tech 6] engine so we work with them, and the Doom version turned out to be really kick-ass on the Switch, so I think Wolfenstein will be the same.”
Also speaking at the festival, Machine Games’ Narrative Designer, Tommy Tordsson Bjork, was so bold as to say, “it’s going to be as good” as the Doom port that came out in November. The team behind Wolfenstein clearly has a lot of confidence in Panic Button.
Bethesda has confirmed that the port will be released in early 2018.
