Dive into Anger Foot, where fast reflexes and strategic kicks are your best allies in this uniquely wild and raunchy first-person shooter.

Do you like curb stomping the Locust in Gears of War, or perhaps, kicking the shit out of Necromorphs in Dead Space, did that one scene in The Last of Us Part II that referenced Hotline Miami really get you giddy for murder? If you said yes to any of those things, or at the very least, you have a pension for fast and frenetic FPSs’ then Anger Foot may just be worth your time.

Anger Foot (Pc) Review

Developed by Free Lives, the same studio behind titles like BroForce and Genital Jousting, Anger Foot continues the trend of pulpy and raunchy gaming — this time, taking the form of a boomer shooter that emphasizes or even fetishizes feet-based melee mayhem.

“Anger Foot places players into the bare feet of the titular character on a journey to retrieve his precious sneakers.”

During my preview of Anger Foot back in late May, I noted that the title featured a small but well-implemented assortment of guns that complimented the melee-based gameplay. Since then, Anger Foot has gained an armouries worth of range-based weapons, including new additions like grenade launchers, a medieval cross-bow, dual pistols, and even a flamethrower amongst a whole host of new shoes that can be unlocked, granting the titular Anger Foot new powers and abilities to augment the player’s prowess for ass-kicking.

For the uninitiated, Anger Foot places players into the shoes or rather the bare feet of the titular character, on a journey to retrieve his precious sneakers, ultimately culminating in a trip to the various gang-controlled districts that make up Shit City, the criminal utopia in which Anger Foot takes place.

Spread across over 50 levels, stages in Anger Foot boil down to getting to the end of the stage in one piece, with optional objectives that reward the player with additional points, which can then be cashed in to unlock new shoes. Shoes in Anger Foot essentially act as old-school cheat codes, granting the player abilities such as low gravity, an extra life, or, my favourite of the bunch, a bicycle kick reminiscent of Mortal Kombat.

Most enemies in Anger Foot go down with a single kick or well-placed shot. Similarly, the player is equally squishy, meaning Anger Foot requires a deft hand, or rather, foot, when navigating its often claustrophobic environments, filled to the brim with bad guys.

“Anger Foot exemplifies fast and twitchy gameplay, with the added challenge of earning new shoes to keep players invested.”

Anger Foot is a damn good time, exemplifying fast and twitchy gameplay, while the added challenge of going for gold in each stage to earn new shoes adds an excellent incentive to keep players invested.

Anger Foot (Pc) Review

With its focus on speed coupled with the generous amount of game modifiers that come with new shoe unlocks, it will be interesting to see just how players, particularly the speedrunning community, find ways to route Anger Foot and demolish the already fast and furious FPS.

Although I’m grateful for their inclusion, the weakest element of Anger Foot, which I mentioned in my preview, would have to be the boss encounters, which act as a way to cap off each district or set of levels in the game. While not bad by any means, boss encounters in Anger Foot, including the new ones present in the final build of the game, seemingly slow down the otherwise fast and frantic speed of the game, taking away from what makes the game so much fun to play in the first place. Regardless, Anger Foot is a fantastic FPS that shouldn’t be missed.
